Mid-Autumn Festival
Every year, Chinese people celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival on the |5th
day of the eighth month in the
Chinese lunar calendar.
The widely-accepted origin of the festival is the tale of Chang'e, a
goddess who lives on the moon and meets with her husband every year on this day.
Extended families get together to see the moon while eating
and sharing the moon cakes. These yummy
treats symbolise
reunion and happiness.
In some regions, people put paper lanterns on display or release them
into the evening sky.
